Valkyrie is visiting her mom's grave because she's sad she hadn't seen Iversen that day yet. Iversen has some beef with some of the soldiers and they come after him, beat him up, think he's dead and put him in a grave. But the reason for my low rating is the weird and abrupt ending.
They're like innocent school kids, sneaking around before asking for her father's permission- which he does grant. She's ivy and I'm the fucking pillar she'll be clinging to for the rest of her life. She's totally cool with that plan because she has a crush on him too. to make sure she remains untouched and unmarried because he wants her for himself. Iversen has had a crush on Valkyrie for a while. It's a little awkward at first because she's not supposed to look him in the eye- but man, she does. They get caught in the rain and take shelter in a shed. On the day of his funeral, soldier Iversen asks her father for permission to drive her home. She was engaged to be married but her fiancee mysteriously dies. "I like your silence because all I can think of is how beautifully you must scream." I'm not entirely sure if it was contemporary, historical, medieval- I dunno what it was? It was a cute read regardless though!
